About Me:
'musta na ba? is a product of HEC's sojourn to The Philippines after nearly 20 years in USA. While in the USA, honing his talent in playing and composing music, HEC continued to keep himself abreast of the cultural and political climate back home. In 1997, HEC visited The Philippines and saw the changes he missed and further noticed the music scene. Later that year, HEC's neighbor in Sacramento, CA asked if he can play guitars on 2 tracks on an album. That friend is Ron "BEWARE" Salanga of the famed Death Threat rap group. Ron was in Sacramento to record his 1st solo effort- Beware, Death Threat-The Return. That was HEC's only mark in the music industry in The Philippines hence, Beware persuaded HEC to make an album. A compilation of 8 songs have become a vault of his probe, anguish, worries, and romance with his Filipino blood. In the album's title cut 'musta na ba?, HEC signs back to compatriots in a true fashion of Filipino TAGAY camaraderie. On the following music pieces, HEC wakes up both himself and his kababayans to the warmth and strength of Filipino virtuosity amid daily strain of love, friendships, misunderstandings, failures, and challenges. The album caps with confrontation of social issues in contrast Filipino flair like tackling serious matters lightly, as in Simulan sa Ngiti, and in an agitated mode, as in Pakinggan N'yo. Listening to HEC sing is like conversing with a true friend in a streetside setting. His language and music strip you with any baggage and inhibition to reach in to your deepest feelings, engaging you in a warm and meaningful bond. Like tossed green salad, HEC's music is an exciting mix of different music picks (folk, classic rock, pop, and pop-jazz) maintaining a crisp and healthy folk-rock flavour. 'musta na ba? is produced by GOODING and was recorded at S3 records in Wichita, Kansas, USA. It was remixed at VAS studios, Quezon City and released through exclusive distribution by Galaxy records.
