Filmed by the beautiful beaches and breathtaking cliffs of Bolinao in Pangasinan, the video for "Now It Starts" matches the straightforward emotional intensity of a contemporary pop anthem that is already gaining international…
Visually, the latest from OPM trailblazer Rico Blanco is a gothic victorian fantasy a la Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland". Musically, its a continuation of his experiments of merging 80s electro and varios alternative styles. "Kahit Walang Sabihin" changes rapidly. Contemporary pop piano and strings fill in the emotional undertones – at some points its almost chopin, then coldplay,…
One of the most exciting artists in the Philippines today, Chelo Aestrid is an intelligent and stylish provocateur – a Pinay Gwen Stefani or Missy Elliot whose genius crosses all boundaries. Born in Cebu, and raised in LA (with a stint in London as well), she returned to the RP to pursue her artistic career. After an indie label solo album in 2001, she was released again in 2004 as the…

Yes I agree. Its hard to consider a cover of an American song "original" and "Pilipino".
hello j.wings, curious again so you're not in the Philippines right? Actually i've got a few questions...hehe . Have you heard Joey Ayala's "Little Brown Man", he said somewhere in his song that Filipinos are always treated…

OPM listeners let's speak! Tell me what you about OUR music. I want to know who we are -this thing never gets old-through the songs we make and listen to. Help me write what I'm writing.Gusto kong maramdaman kayo--mga Pinoy music listeners. I'm doing a study on OPM to search for our Pinoyness. Ambitious? Nope. What about eraserheads? They are creative, aren't they? Creative in a way in that they absorb the stories of everyday Pinoy life in their songs with their oh so simple lyrics impregnated with 'meaning' ; somehow this so-called meaning…

Well ok,…
hi j. wings mmm very insightful. Revivals flood the airwaves now (do we even listen to radios hehe, but there are many in the music scene). But I like Bamboo's cover of "I don't want to wait in vain". Jazzy pinoy take on reggae-…
I love opm. bamboo, eraserheads, asin, joey ayala. Now I know we have some nuisances of meaning regarding Original and Pinoy hehe but we all know that OPM---is music, our music. I love opm so much i' m making a study of it; i hope this site will help me and in the process maybe what im doing will help to the understanding of ourselves better.
I see myself as a (choose all that apply):
Pinoy!
About Me:
I'm a repressed (depressed) singer; this dream to sing escapes through my fingers down to my pen, which leads to me dancing . but am I really this? This wild fantasies do not replace the abstraction of the theories which melt when reality meets you in the break of dawn: little kids sleep on the cold cement. i'm not disillusioned, ive never illusioned in the first place, i imagined it. Could our books help? ha!
I cant believe i'm spilling my guts out, and its here in the "About Me"-maybe that's me "spilled guts"
i cant believe i censored myself.

BTW look in groups and you will see an eraserheads group, though its all old info. If there's any group you would like to be co-moderator of, let me know. If you like eraserheads or we can make also one for bamboo or asin (actually they are in 70s bistro as well), u can help out working on a that.
Also look in the BATAtv and Pinoy freestyle, and toni gonzaga groups. That shows what can be done in a group with a little work.
